When I was in college I used to go to a bookstore near campus that had just started carrying these cool greeting cards put out by an L.A. company called Paper Moon Graphics. I was especially struck by the collage art on many of them and that inspired me to begin cutting and pasting images for things like invites and flyers.

I continued to occasionally explore collage as a more spontaneous form of creativity while working as an illustrator in New York City. Over the years I discovered the works of Hannah Hoch, Karel Teige, John Stezaker and others, which fed my enthusiasm for the art form and led me to begin focusing on collage in the early 2000’s. Since then I have been in numerous group shows and two solo shows.

I consider my collages to be a combination of art and archeology. Inspiration for them comes from images buried in old magazines and books, vintage paperback book covers and other paper ephemera that I have uncovered at flea markets and thrift stores.

By cutting up and reinterpreting these images and typography into collages, my goal is to revive them and give them a new visual life.
